A situation in which I would be uncomfortable is a family that believes if you spare the rod you spoil the child and they actually believe that you have to use a rod. Abuse would make me very uncomfortable, because I don't believe that children should be abused parents should know there limits. I would hav a talk with the parents without the child and vice versa. If the situation continues after that as the teaher I will report the abuse, because the child is my main concern.

There is a line between abuse and discipline. The students that know they will be disciplined at home, whether it is a spanking or some other form, are the students that behave in the classroom. The students that do not received discipline or spankings are the ones that disrupt the class all day. Using a "rod" I do not believe in, however I do believe in spanking my own children if they need it. My kids do not cut up in school, they know better. However, I would never abuse my children.
